About Me

20210906_070341_edited.jpg

As a goal-oriented environmental communicator, I am always thinking about solutions. Solutions to environmental projects, how to best frame projects to leaders, and how these project strategies can enact change. I pull from a variety of experience in research, communications, and project management. I am a motivator of solution-driven projects, and I. Make. Things. Happen.

Education

I have a M.S. in Environmental Policy and Planning with additional specializations in Environmental Justice and Behavior, Education, and Communication. My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Environmental Science with minors in Climate Change and Soil Science.

Experience
I have a proven track record in pairing strong technical skills with communications and engagement. As a Science Communications contractor for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), I elevated research outcomes to internal experts and the general public. For my master's capstone project, my team supported regional agencies in working towards a binational Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. Within my group, I led the communications, directing how our team frames deliverables to local and regional decision makers. I kept our project running smoothly, ensuring milestones were met and providing administrative support as needed.

My recent work in strategic planning and administration brought practical skills to the forefront. I developed strategic plans to support southeast Michigan communities in transitioning to electric vehicle manufacturing. I identified grant resources for community projects and launched the MiTalks monthly webinar series which serves to empower communities with the latest information and resources in the electric vehicle transition.

As a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI), I trained 190+ students at the intersection of ecology and communications. I also served as a mentor to other GSIs, leading the teaching team in launching active learning strategies. These strategies improved learning outcomes, and I used them excite students to come to class each day. As a result, multiple of my students each semester name me as their "favorite GSI/teacher ever."
