Hello! I’ve been pretty busy while wrapping up my internship at Archbold Biological Station and transitioning into my new job as an EPA contractor in science communications! I haven’t really been able to update my blog page much, but I have a new project!
If you look at the tabs at the top of my website, you’ll see a new “Photo Gallery” tab. While I was doing field work every day, I got really into taking pictures of everything. I even ordered a macro lens to take better close-up photos, and I’m really proud of a lot of these.
I’ll be slowly adding my favorite photos as I find the time. It’s a slow process since I have to sort through my photos and do slight edits.
I’ll be adding both scientific and common names as well as some fun facts about the plants! Look forward to more photos!
See below my favorite from my pictures: Dicerandra frutescens, also known as Scrub Balm. It is listed as both federally and state endangered. Its only known location is in Highlands County, Florida. It is part of the Lamiaceae family, the mint family. It's leaves have a strong, minty smell and taste. It's flowers can be white, yellow, or pink! I'll be posting a pink flower in my photo gallery in the next few months.
